I migrated to Australia as a teenager in 1985 from Beijing, China. I graduated from University of South Australia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy degree.
My first job was in Victor Harbour. There I gained valuable experience in working with the elderly and the ability to communicate effectively.
I moved back to Adelaide and started working at the Repatriation General Hospital in 1994 where I worked in a variety of physiotherapy fields.
Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy has always been my passion ever since I was in university. I started working for Joyce Reid and Associates in 1995 after meeting Joyce at a post-graduate respiratory course. I then started many years of hard work but very enjoyable experience in a vast range of areas in physiotherapy, especially in intensive care, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and chest physiotherapy.
To further my career, I completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy in 1997 at the University of South Australia. I have also completed a Cardiac Rehabilitation course in Brisbane, and a Pulmonary Rehabilitation course in Perth.
I worked in 6 different private hospitals as the Senior Associate until 3 months before my twins were born in 2002.
I moved to London for a year with my husband and children when the twins were 7 months old. We had a fabulous year travelling and working (my husband only, as I was busy with the kids!)
I started working again once I returned to Adelaide 12 months later. Joyce Reid and Associate had become Lifespan Physiotherapy.
Three years on, I now work three days at the Calvary North Adelaide hospital, and two days at our rooms in Hazelwood Park.
My special area of interest is still cardiorespiratory care, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. I am currently studying Acupuncture and am due to complete this in June 2007. I am looking forward to complementing my treatments with this new technique.
